to speaking with governor romney, sitting down in the coming weeks to discuss ways you could work together on this nation's problems have you extended that invitation? has he accepted? and what ways do you think you can work together? >> we haven't scheduled something yet. i think everybody forgets the election was only a week ago. i know i've forgotten, i forgot on wednesday. i think everybody needs to catch their breath. i'm sure that governor romney is spending time with his family. and my hope is before the end of the year, though, we have a chance to sit down and talk. there are certain aspects of governor romney's record and his ideas that i think could be very helpful. to give you one example, i think he did a terrific job running the olympics. and that skill set of trying to figure out how do we make something work better applies to the federal government. there are a lot of ideas that i don't think are partisan ideas but are just smart ideas about how can we make the federal government more customer friendly, how can we make sure that we're consolidating programs that are duplicat
would like to believe that governor romney once he reviews those remarks, will have regret having said them. he doesn't want to become vice president of excuses. but until and unless republicans get in touch with the fact-based world, in particular with science, global warming comes to mind, evolution comes to mind, until they get in touch with this, it's very hard to see how your optimism and my hopes are going to be fulfilled. but hope springs eternal, and with mitch mcconnell, who i think is the key for the republicans, their leader in the senate, that, you know, he was ungracious in the first hours after the election results were known. he has been the lead preacher of the gospel of obstructionism. and if he continues to that, not only will the republican party, i think, find the capital dome sort of, they'll be in a temple of doom if they continue to do this. you just can't do it. with the election itself, this election is going to be studied for a very long time. this is now the 21st century and what president obama did, he hired math wizards and so called stat geeks, and they de

election. there has been mostly complimentary talk about governor romney saying he was a good man. he also had a good plan but there has been talk about he never really connected fully with the american people. to that point, governor jindal was asked about a comment romney made on a conference call yesterday with donors. he said he lost because president obama offered, quote gifts to young people and minorities. jindal rejected that and alluded to romney's damaging 47% comment, saying the gop had to fight for 100% of the vote. >> let's show we're the party not of big banks, wall street, of bailouts, not big business. we're the party that stands for families and small businessings, those simply working hard to pay their bills so their kids can get even better jobs. >> reporter: there's also been a lot of talk about the hispanic vote. of course president obama got 71%. mitt romney just 27%. compare that to the 44% that president bush got in 2004. you can see the party has its demographics problem. they're talking about softening their stance on immigration. possibly talking about, comprehen
, there are certain aspects of governor romney's record and his ideas that i think could be very helpful. well, to give you one example i do think that he did a terrific job running the olympics. i would like to get ideas from him and see if there are some ways we can potentially work together. >> stephanie: if it were me, i would would have said with government money. >> but you're not gracious. >> stephanie: i'm a left wing hate monger. as you know. >> according to sean hannity and brian mulroney. >> stephanie: right. >> cry baby sore losers. >> stephanie: let's do compare and contrast. here is mitt romney in a phone call to downers. >> the president's campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition give an extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote. >> e ordinary gifts medicare and social security is stuff we paid into. >> stephanie: i mean really talk like just continuing to be in denial. and it's just so insulting. >> bobby jindal took him to task saying romney was dividing america by speaking like that. >> s
. hilary, you just heard the governor of louisiana, bobby jindal, he's very critical of mitt romney, the campaign he ran. what did you make of that? >> well, i think there's just a whole lot of distancing going on. pretty typical after a losing campaign. i thought, you know, governor jindal spoke well about some of the mistakes republicans have made. a little bit of a mixed message. i think this was a values election, not the demographic election that some people like governor jindal and mitt romney have been talking about. so i think he needs to be clearer about those values. he did say we ought to not be protecting tax cuts -- you know, tax policies for the wealthy. i think the challenge for somebody like governor jindal who just is sort of sitting back and criticizing now is to take on republicans that are relevant. because mitt romney's no longer relevant. go to john boehner, go to mitch mcconnell and say let's promote these policies that help poor people that help the middle class that promote jobs. that's what the president's been trying to do. that's what he's calling for in

. something you will hear about in 2016, where you used to live in louisiana, the governor, bobby jindal who was a staumplg romney supporter, that these remarks by romney are categorically untrue. >> he did. jindal is as conservative as they get, what he said, we have to stop dividing the american voters. if we are going to be a competitive party and when elections on the national stage, and continue to fight for our conservative principles, we need two messages to get out loudly and clearly. one, we are fighting for 100% of the votes. and second, our policies, benefit every american who wants to pursue the american dream. period. a lot of infighting between republicans. as they try to sort through the aftermath of the election here. but it is reminiscent, these comments, about the 47% tape. i'm confused as to how contraception, health care or college loans are racial issues and how they are -- they're gifts to people, as opposed to tools to help people live a better or healthier life. >> you have to think this, this phone call with some of the top donors. here he was, they gave basically $9
